Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture and Holistic Facial Gua Sha
What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic Acupuncture has been widely used in China for many years to combat the signs of ageing.
Cosmetic Acupuncture hydrates, tones up and boosts the skin’s supply of nutrients and oxygen, thus decreasing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes. The overall result gives you a more youthful appearance. The face has a high number of Acupuncture points. This means that specific areas of the face can be targeted which will in turn increase the flow of blood and energy through the skin in that area, improving skin’s appearance.
As we mature, the quantity of Qi (energy) and blood in the skin and underlying facial muscles slowly begin to decrease, causing a loss of nourishment support and moisture. Cosmetic Acupuncture is an excellent alternative and far less costly than cosmetic surgery and it is SAFE. There are none of the side effects of face lift surgery i.e. laser, and injections like numbness, scarring, possible atrophy, and lengthy recovery time. It does not have bad side-effects or risk of disfigurement (temporary very slight bruising can occasionally occur). Does Cosmetic Acupuncture hurt?
The Acupuncture needles are very thin and virtually painless; they only cause a minimal discomfort when inserted.
What about side effects?
There are no negative side effects; some people bruise slightly; these disappear in 1 or 2 days. Your face will never look stretched burnt, puffy or distorted.
What is Holistic Gua Sha?
Gua Sha is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) massage therapy using small hand held tools on the face to promote blood circulation move and remove toxins, heat, blood and lymph. Gua Sha has been developed to balance, restore and rejuvenate the skin condition without leaving any redness. It is a massage that is gentle but therapeutic, scientific, effective and safe, as it has no side effects.
The following can be seen after a course of facial Gua Sha:

Are there any contraindications?
Facial Gua Sha is much gentler than traditional body Gua Sha but is still contraindicated for acute and chronic infectious diseases on the skin, skin ulcers, open wounds and scars under 3 months old. If you have had botox, fillers or any other cosmetic procedures, please let me know. This treatment can not be performed until 3 weeks after.
